Getting Away From Google - Email

Continuing on the theme of "Getting Away From Google", I'm exploring finding another email client besides Gmail.
I found Proton this morning, which offers a single email addy with up to 1GB storage for free. Beyond that they have tiered subscription plans. https://account.proton.me/mail/signup
I'm going to sign up to the free account and for the next month will attempt to do as much as I can with a proton account.
Here's a review of Proton, which, while not a ringing endorsement, seems net positive.
https://leafybark.com/is-protonmail-really-safe/I think it's important to remember that the price of unshittification is eternal vigilance, and every platform will eventually turn to shit. If this site and executes a vision and gets some wind in it's sales, I'll explore setting up our own email server, but I think the primary problem that will be encountered there is that the major email providers will probably push our emails to everyone else's spam folder "for their own convenience". We'll shelf that idea for now.
